As you know, it was Drawing Day on June 5th and many of the GMs were giving out subscriptions. Luckily for me, ^sphilr (one of the traditional art GMs) had one of the latest deadlines and their contest was to draw ^Hanratty-Stock.
So I went to have a look through her gallery and I found this awesome picture, which reminded me of this picture which has been in my favourites for a long time now. Anyway, I just loved the combination of blue skin and red hair, and the beautiful patterns she had on her face, so I had to draw it! (Also it reminded me of when I painted myself purple, which was a lot of fun.)
My scanner cable's broken so I had to take a photo of this. But I think I managed to sort it out digitally enough that I don't need to re-scan.
By the way, her arm and shoulders ARE a different colour from her face and neck - check out the original if you don't believe me I couldn't decide whether to do it that way or not (I thought it might look accidental) but I went for it in the end.
Materials used: colouring pencils Time taken: several hours

Love the facial expression. And I love the hair too. I agree, the blue and red really compliment eachother. The hand looks great too. I really admire how you blend your color pencils together. It all looks natural and is very pleasing to look at. You were also able to capture the light source, which is very powerful in a drawing. The picture almost looks three dimensional, and thats awesome too! A few anatomical errors after I've looked at this closely, but nothing immediately pops out. Just focus on her shoulders. They don't appear to be balanced. And the proportion of her hand to her arm is a little off too. But like I said, its nothing major. Good work friend.
Thanks a lot for the comment. I think you are right on both counts about the proportions, I remember I found it quite difficult sorting out the hand when it was twisted around at that angle compared to the arm.
Seriously though, there's a really great structure to her face and the hair looks good.
