Remember in June I was making lots of ice cream? Well most ice cream recipes require you making custard first, which needs lots of egg yolks, so I had a lot of spare egg whites kicking around (9 from the first recipe, which went off, and then 7 from the second, which I used here) so I made meringues with them.
Then I whipped some cream and added some chopped strawberries to make myself a pavlova. Mmm.
So this is a photo from back in June that I'm sharing with you now because I'm a bit behind on other submissions and so on after being away. I hope you like it!
It's basically just meringue, strawberries and whipped cream. Cut the strawberries, whip some cream and find a meringue recipe from the internet. I don't make meringues very often so I don't have a recipe. There are plenty online.
They say it's so difficult to shoot food as if you get something to look really good and when you order it (at restaurants for example) it's not the same, and if you shoot something ugly, you simply won't sell. Particularly with this I'm drooling already!
It's harder to make a main course look appealing than a dessert. But also, I tend to make something and think "hey, the presentation looks really good here, I think I'll take a picture", whereas the restaurants have a dish that they have to take a photo of. I just choose which ones look nice out of all the things I cook each day.
