Rorschach by Itti Rorschach by Itti
Who remembers the Three Little Pigs cake I made for the Fancraftic contest? Well they made another contest (actually this is the third, I missed the second) and the theme this time around was Superheroes.

So I did Rorschach, from Watchmen. A couple of pics: [link] [link]
Contest details can be found here: [link]

I sculpted the whole thing from papier mache, then hand-sewed all the clothes. Even the shoes are hand-sewn from leather. The trousers are pinstripe but you can't tell in this picture (here's a closeup of trousers and shoes) - now you would think that's just made from pinstripe material, wouldn't you? Well no, if I did that the stripes would be way too far apart. So I had to find another material that looked like a miniature version of pinstripe.
I'm also quite proud of the mask so here's a closeup of that.

I'm sorry for the crappy pictures, it's late and I'm tired.

Update: Unplaced again. Although I was quite upset by this last time, this time I think it's a fairer result. I spent hours on this and it looks great in person but the pictures are terrible and I was disappointed with them myself; no wonder Myana and co. were too. It was really hard to take a good picture of him though. I'm not sure what to do better.

I bet! I did good just making a paper mache pinata in middle school that ended up looking like a blob lol I can only imagine making something with that much detail!

It helped that pretty much all of his skin was covered up ;)

Hmmm I think he looks kinda like Scarecrow, it's the hat and the skull-like patturn on the mask. The shoes do look awesome.

Um okay. I take it you never read Watchmen then?

Yes I did however I think the hat, coat and not-quite-flat shape of the mask make him look a little like Scarecrow.
