Description
This is a picture I drew as a gift for a friend's 18th. Unfortunately I didn't have time to finish it properly and so the version I had to give her was... well, crap. Since then, I re-traced the original (and burnt myself on my stupid improvised light box) and added some details (which I am quite proud of - I think they improve the picture a lot! From the left, check out pockets & belt detail, tartan pattern on skirt, belt detail, belt + markings on top, patterns on skirt, and belt) then inked and shaded it. Want to do a colour version but not sure what materials to use - suggestions, please. (Traditional preferred as I have very little software I can use on this computer.)
Much help from ~ragados in sorting out the anatomy so a big thank you
for that. Hopefully my style has improved in the long run as well as just for this picture.
Yeah, so it's a picture of me and my 5 closest friends. There's a fair amount of body language and things to pick up on, like the fact that the two people who don't have drinks are the two underage ones.
Materials: sketch pencil (5B) and black pen.
Time taken: about 5 hours to get to the stage I gave it to her, another couple of hours to get this far (but I had to repeat the drawing out, so without the repetition the whole thing wouldn't have taken so long).

This is very cute. I like how their body shapes are all so different. I would like to challenge you to work on creating different distinct facial features. I did notice that they do have differences in their faces, but they're very minor. Try to make faces distint and different. It's a really fun and useful thing to know how to do.
